"We are a couple from Austria and have just come back from a wonderful 8 days individual journey through Ethiopia.

The definite highlight of our tour was a 2 days trekking tour at Simien Mountains organized by Mr. Gismu Syum, the owner of Ethiopia Trek, based in Gondar (Ethiopia).

A few weeks before we started with our trek Gismu planned a perfect itinerary for us so that we can see most of the Simien highlights within only 2 days.This was unfortunately necessary due to our time constraint. Communication with Mr. Gismu was really very easy as he uses Whats App very frequently and responded promptly. Soon we agreed on a travel plan, which allowed us to visit Simien Lodge, Sankaber Camp, Jinbar Waterfall and Chennek Camp on Day1 with an early start from Gondar at 7.00 am. This should be feasible with a combination of bus rides and short hikes. Furthermore we decided to book 2 nights in a Hotel in Debark (which is relatively close to the entrance of the Simien National Park) so that we can sleep comfortably.

On day 2 we should start at 7.00 am. again in order to drive up to Aynameda and hike from there up to Imetgogo Viewing Point (a Must-see for us !!), then continue down to Geech Camp and back to our car at Aynameda. From there back by car to Debark. The total hiking distance is about 17 km distance and should take about 7 hours.

Now, after our return back home and completing our 2 Days Simiens Tour with Ethiopia Trek successfully in the above described way, I must admit that I am impressed by the professionalism, language-skills, knowledge and passion of Mr. Gismu and his team of Ethiopia Trek. Everything was executed as we planned and agreed before. Ethiopia Trek offered us a really fair price and no additional hidden costs. Calculation was very reasonable and transparent.

Gismu was taken care of us from the first day of arrival in Gondor until the final day of departure from Debark. He is very reliable, you can count on him whenever you need help. He ist just awesome.

But what makes our hiking adventure truly unforgettable and fantastic was the team of Ethiopia Trek. Alex "Amuhsuh" our experienced driver managed to drive us safely over the rugged and sometimes steep terrain. He stopped his 4wd car whenever he discovered something interesting like Gelada Monkeys or for some fantastic photo motives of the landscape and scenery.

Irreplaceable for us was Alex our Guide. Without him it would have been impossible for us to complete the long trekking successfully. He was always there to motivate us to continue, finding the paths, supported us wherever needed, explained fauna and flora of the Simiens. Furthermore Alex arranged to get us meals and hot tea at the camps and took our photos with full of enthusiasm. He is just a great guy and we really enjoyed the time we spent with him at the mountains.

Most respect we would like to pay to the last companion of our tour: Sate, our security man. This elderly man with his rifle made us feel very safe along our trekking days and he was always there to give us his helping hands when climbs or river crossing were getting more difficult. Thanks Sate, you will be like the entire Team of Ethiopia Trek always be in our heart.

"I just want to share my experience we had with a Tour Operator from Gondar / Debark, where I and my husband have booked a trekking tour for the Simien Mountains in Northern Ethiopia. Our guide called Gismu Syum, he really gave us a very competitive and fair Price for our 2 single day trips to the Simiens

Gismu visited us the day before of our departure in our Hotel in Gondar, where he discussed the details about our itinerary. For the early morning next day he arranged a 4 WD Bus with a professional and very experienced driver to pick us up directly from our Hotel in Gondar to bring us to Debark, where the office ot the SImiens National Park is located. Within a few minutes he completed the formalities and introduced us to a mandatory scout which should accompany us for the two following days at the Mountains. Within those two days we hiked up to Imet Gogo via Geech Camp and have spent enough time with shorter hikes around Jinbar Falls, Chennek Camp, Sankaber Camp und Simien Lodge area. We really had the time of our life and enjoyed our trekking with Gismu and his Team very much. Our guide, Driver and scout took very much care of us on the mountains, so we always felt save and in good hands. If you are looking for a reliable, friendly and good english speaking guide at a very reasonable priced package we can only recommend Gismu and his Team. They are so amazing People.
