Transfer from Gondar to Sankabar camp. You can be dropped off two hours trek before the campsite to enjoy the views over the escarpment and you are likely to spot large groups of the Gelada monkey. You camp at Sankabar which is at 3250m.
Walk from Sankabar camp to Jinibar waterfalls (3 hours). From the waterfalls you will be picked up and driven back to Gondar.

Trek from Gich to Imet Gogo from where you have great views over the escarpment. From Imet Gogo you will trek to the road from where you will be picked up and transferred back to Gondar
Depart early in the morning from Gondar (7am at the latest), driving to Sankober. We will stop along the way to handle park fees, etc. If you like, we can drop you in or around Buyit Ras for a 3-4 hour hike to Sankober, which passes close to the escarpment edge. Nearing Sankober, you will have beautiful views on both sides of the escarpment ridge and where you will likely see the endemic Gelada baboons. In Sankober, you will be met with your supplies. Overnight camping in Sankober.
From Sankober, depart into a valley, through which the Wazla (or Koba) River runs. (This river is often dry). Coming out of the valley you will have views of the Jinbar River waterfalls falling into the Geech Abyss. Continuing along, you will cross the Jinbar River and ascend into the village of Geech. Total trekking time: 4-5 hours
After an early breakfast, depart from Geech to the peak of Imet Gogo at 3926m. Here you'll have spectacular views over the lowlands - one of the highlights of the trip. As you continue to Chenek, you will pass Korbete Metia, a solid rock wall which opens up exposing beautiful views over the lowlands and the escarpment. This is also a good place for spotting lammergeiers. Overnight camping in Chenek. Total trekking time: 7 - 9 hours
From Chenek, continue east up a valley to Bwahit Peak, overlooking the camp from where you just came. After the visit, return to Gondar for overnight.

Trek up the Valley from your campsite to the small village of Mizma. From here, a steep climb brings you to an impressive amphitheater made up of three major buttresses of expanded rock. It is then an easy scramble to the summit. To reach the Summit can take up to 6 hrs. Return to Ambiquo camp for overnight.
Trek Ambiquo - Chenek; return to Chenek, bypassing Mt. Buhit on the return.
Meet with vehicles and return to Gondar. Relax and recover from trek.
Fly to Addis Ababa on Ethiopian Airlines. Visit the National Museum, home of the 3.18 million year old skeleton "Lucy." Optional souvenir shopping in the afternoon. Farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant featuring dancers and musicians representing some of the country's many ethnic groups. Transfer to airport for late night departure if needed.
You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Refresh and begin your sightseeing of Addis with a drive up to mount Entoto for a panoramic view of Addis. Descend down and drive to National museum where you will have a chance to spot the oldest hominids of 'Lucy' fossil. Visit and proceed to the Holy Trinity built during the WWII. Then proceed to Ethnographic museum, which use to be the palace of Emperor Hailesellase. To wrap up you drive to Merkato, the biggest market in East Africa. Overnight in Addis.

Simien mountains to Lalibela 17 days trek and unforgettable trek through the remote splendor of the magnificent Simien region. Often compared for its scenic beauty to the Grand Canyon, the Simien Mountains National Park is one of the major highlands of Africa. Its peaks include Ras Dashen, which at 4533m is the highest peak in Ethiopia. The Park is a World Heritage Site, and is rich with wildlife totally unique to the region, including the scarlet-chested Gelada Baboon, the Alia Ibex and the Simien Fox. The mountains are also home to diverse plant-life and over fifty species of bird.
You will depart early morning from Gondar to Debark. In debark you will arrange your visit with the park office and receive a scout and guide then drive into the park to arrive at Sankaber. You can either drive all the way in to Sankaber or have the car drop you off near Buyit Ras for a short hike. If you choose to hike in you will take in beautiful views of the landscape and the endless mountain ridges, and you likely see some gelada baboons. When you arrive in Sankaber you will be met with your supplies. Sankaber will be the first campsite on your trip.
From Sankaber you will begin hiking following the ridge and look out over the foothills 800m down. From the ridge you will descend down into the valley and be able to view the Jinbar River plunging into the Geech Abyss. After some time at the waterfall you will continue on to Geech village where you will find your second campsite.
After breakfast at geech campsite you will hike through the grass plateau that are home to the, appropriately titled, Giant Lobelia plants. After about 2 hours you will reach Imet Gogo which is an amazing 360 degree view of the Simien Mountains. Here you will have reached an altitude of 3,926m and be able to look out at the amazing landscape from 360 degrees. At this height and view point you can see the canyon below, distant ridges, and view the seemingly never ending valleys. From here you will return to Geech, but first you will pass through Siha Gorge for a lunch break. When you arrive back at Geech you will have time to relax from the hike. Before nightfall you will have the option of taking a short sunset hike to Keda Dit. You will spend the night back at Geech.
After breakfast at Geech you start your 7 hour hike to one of the most spectacular passing in the mountains. From the campsite you will walk SE towards Innatye where you will descend into a forest of Giant Hazel and through the ridgelines open grasslands. After climbing up to Innatye to view the vertical drop you will see why locals named it to mean “mama mia”. Here you will have lunch and continue on towards Chennek where you will be able to view the wildlife like, Walia Ibex and Gelada baboons, and plant life. Chennek will be your campsite for the night.
After breakfast you will hike for 2 hours and summit the Buwahit pass (4,200m). From here you can look out towards your hike for tomorrow, Ras Dashen. You will follow the path down towards Meseha valley and cross a river and back up again towards Ambiko where you will camp for the night.
Starting early, you will continue up the valley to the village of Mizma, after which you will have a steep ascent toa ridge crest overlooking a large valley. The path then follows along the side of the valley, straight at Ras Dashen. You will eventually reach a point where you will see three distinct buttresses. The buttress on the left is the summit of RasDashen. A pile of rocks at the top of the buttress marks the summit. After your successful arrival at the highest point in Ethiopia, then continue to Dilibiza (3400m) total trekking time 8-9 hours.
After an early breakfast, depart From Dilibiza to Fogayes. This area is an outstanding place to view birds, particularly raptors. Many interesting species can be seen here, among which are the tawny eagle, Lammergeyer and augur buzzard. Here you have a rewarding view of the highest Mount Ras Dashen and the surrounding escarpment and mountains. After a brief rest and lunch in this majestic spot, begin your 2-3 hour descent to the camp. total trekking time 6-7 hours
Today descends into the lowlands as passing several of the beautiful spots which we had seen from above on the trek yesterday.and One of the most scenic and spectacular trails in the park, this route takes you to a viewpoint that rewards you with views of the remarkable shape of the landscape and canyon which are the result of geological upheaval between 60 - 70 million years ago. (1,78300m): 6- 7 hoursThe day begins with a downhill walk to the Meshihu River(one of the tributaries of the Tekeze River that drains towards Sudan, and joins the Deli River .) Locatedat 1,775m, the river is surrounded by big fig trees. The descent is approximately 1,000m and takes 3 - 4 hours. After you reach the river, you continue on flat ground for about 2-3 hours. The trail offers splendid views of the river in the forest. The trail then winds its way into the lowland where visitors will experience the enormous,lowland flora that is now rare in Ethiopia. Transfer to Addis Ababa Airport for your flight to Jinka. On arrival visit the South Omo Research Centre and museum which focuses on the various ethnic groups living in South Omo. You also visit Ari village to watch how the Ari distill their own liquor from sorghum, garlic and maize and visit the Jinka museum.
This morning head into Mago National Park on the east bank of the River Omo home to a wide range of ethnic groups. Visit a Mursi village and learn something of their unique habits including lip plates and large decorative ear plugs. Afterwards continue to Turmi, home of the proud Hamar tribe. If today is a market day there will be an opportunity to wander around the colorful market in the Omo Valley.
This morning you'll journey south, driving 75 km (47 miles) to Omorate, a river town where the Ethio-Kenyan border located. Pass through acacia forests, where you will see Hamer tribes people herding cattle. Arrive at Omorate and cross the Omo river and then, visit a Dassenech tribe. Both the Hamar and Dassenech tribes here are fiercely independent and culturally unique - you may witness evidence of scarification practices and body modification in both tribes. The Dassenech live a traditional way of life, abandoning the irrigation systems.Return to Turmi in the afternoon and after a break you'll visit a nearby Hamer village and learn more about this tribe. The women roll their hair into dreds called goscha using fat and dark red ochre, and their arms are wrapped in beads and copper bracelets. The tribe practice scarification, with women having scars cut into their arms or shoulders to make themselves more beautiful and as a display of their strength. They wear beaded goatskin frocks over their upper body, and married women wear thick copper necklaces. The men are also adorned with scars, for beauty or traditionally representing the number of enemies they have killed, and courageous men wear clay hair buns on their heads. The Hamer have annual ceremony, a young man must jump back and forth on the backs of bulls to prove himself worthy of the family's pride and of a wife, while women are ritualistically whipped in voluntary support of the initiate.
This morning after breakfast drive to Arbaminch. En route you will view the beautiful terraced agricultural fields of the Konso people who are well known for their intricately terraced hillsides which are registered by UNESCO as a world heritage site. You will walk in the village and visit fine woven materials, the carved totems with which they decorate their graves and their unique house. This afternoon enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo for an opportunity to spot hippos and Nile crocodiles. Late in the afternoon transfer to your Accommodation at Arbaminch.
This morning drive up into the hills to visit to the village of Chencha, home to the Dorze who are renowned cotton weavers whose tall beehive-shaped dwellings are among the most distinctive traditional structures to be seen anywhere in Africa. Their weavings and the shama cloth produced around Chencha is considered to be the finest in Ethiopia. Transfer to Arba Minch Airport your departure flight back to Addis Ababa.

Drive to Arba Minch, one of the main towns in Southern Ethiopia. On the way, visit a Dorze Village in the Guge Mountains. The Dorze are known for their tall, beehive-shaped bamboo houses. If the base becomes infested with termites, the entire house can be lifted and moved to another location.
Take a boat trip on Lake Chamo and view some of the largest crocodiles in the world sunning on the banks of the lake. Hippopotami and birdlife are also abundant. Drive to Jinka through areas inhabited by various peoples such as the Konso, Tseme, Benna and Ari. Once in Jinka, visit a nearby village of the Ari people.
Early morning drive to the Mago National Park to visit the Mursi people. The Mursi women are known for the clay plates they insert into their lower lips. Time permitting, visit the Omo Valley Museum in Jinka.
Drive to Turmi in the heartland of the Hamer people. The Hamer are known for their body decorations and the clay and ochre that is used to create their unique hairstyles. Turmi is a very small town and nearby we explore a Hamer village and meet some of the locals
Excursion from Turmi to Omorate. Crossing of the Omo River via a traditional canoe (a recently built bridge now also allows for optional crossing via tour vehicle.). Visit a village of another Omo tribe, the Dasanech, a semi nomadic people who are one of the more numerous (about 30,000 people) tribes in the Omo. Return to Turmi in the afternoon.
Drive to Konso, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. A highland people, the Konso are known for the ancient and intricate terraces that encircle their well-planned villages. Each Konso village begins on a hill top. As the population grows a new “ring” of homes are built around the hilltop. When the final “ring” reaches near the bottom of the hill, a new village on a different hill must be built. Look for the “generation pole” located in each village. Every 18 years and new pole is added to the others making it easy to calculate the age of the village.
Drive to Hawassa via the Shenkele game reserve. This Park is the the last pocket of the original Ethiopian Savannah. You will have a chance to spot the endemic Antelope called Swayne`s hartebeast, one the rarest and most elegant animals in all of Africa. Continue to Hawassa and relax at a lakeside resort.
Drive to Addis Ababa stopping at Rift Valley Lakes that are renowned for their endemic birdlife. Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, optional souvenir shopping if time permits. Enjoy a Farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant featuring dancers and musicians representing some of the country's many ethnic groups. Transfer to airport for late night departure or additional hotel night booked upon request.

Afternoon, you will drive to the village of Tis Isat to see the Blue Nile falls. (Note that the volume of the water could be minimal because of the construction of the new dam.) Overnight in Bahir Dar.

In the afternoon you will visit the city of Gondar with the drive to the Castles and Churches built by Emperor Fassiladas and his descendants. Proceed to the fascinating Debre Birhan Selassie (The Enlightening of Trinity) with Wonderful murals art, Qusquam Church. Overnight in Gondar.
Today you will drive to Buyit Ras a segment of the Semein Mountain. This is a sight, which is termed as the most wild and magnificent view all Ethiopian landscapes. The Semien Mountains National park is the only place in Ethiopia registered by the UNESCO as a natural beauty. Observe the magnificent scenery. Overnight in Gondar.
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lalibela. Be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. "Eighth wonder of world Heritage" Lalibela is famous for its underground rock-hewn cathedrals. In the afternoon you will visit top attractions of Lalibela that will simply stagger you. Overnight in Lalibela.
This day you will have an excursion to the monastery of Asheten Mariam church found on top of a hill. Visit and walk back to Lalibela. In the afternoon you will visit the remaining churches of Lalibela which includes Bete Gabriel/Rafael, Bete Mercorios, Bete Emmanuel and Bete Aba Libanos. Overnight in Lalibela.
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Axum. A city more than 2500 years of history, once the center of a great empire and ancient civilization, home of the original Ark of covenants, Axum is the prime historical site in the north of Ethiopia. Take a city tour that include the St. Mary's Church, the sanctuary Chapel which is the repository of the "Ark of covenant", the coronation yard, Stelae Park, Tomb of Kaleb and his son Gebre Meskel, Ezana's Inscriptions, Queen of Sheba's Bath, Queen of Sheba's palace ruins and Axum Museum. Overnight in Axum.
This day you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Addis. You will be met upon arrival and drive further down southwards to Langano. En route visit Lake Ziway the largest of the upper Rift Valley lakes with an area of 400 sq. km. Its shores are creased with water lilies, breeding place for different Ethiopian. Proceed towards the Lake Langano. The lake is a place to enjoy water activities. Overnight in Langano.
Morning, drive to the town of Arba Minch visiting en route the Doreze village who are expert in weaving called Shammas. The shape of their house looks Elephant, in order to remember the existence of these animals around the area many years ago. Enset “fake banana” is the stable food for these peoples. Overnight in Arba Minch.
After having your breakfast you will take a boat cruise on the Lake Chamo, the third biggest Lake in Ethiopia. On the Lake you may have a chance to see the Nile crocodiles, hippos and different types of birds. Visit and proceed southwards to Jinka passing through the Konso village, one of the UNESCO site in Ethiopia know by their terracing. One of the best types of coffee for the country is also from this village. Proceed to the Bana village. The Bana who are indigenous pastoral and semi-nomadic people living in the harsh environment of lower Omo Valley. The men often have their hair dressed up with a colorful clay cap that is decorated with feathers. Drive to the Ari people, the largest population in the lower omo valley. The women wear skirts from the banana like tree, called Enset are expert in pottery. Overnight in Jinka.
Take a day excursion to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi village. The Mursi are one of the exotic ethnic groups in Ethiopia. They live in very low huts made of straw leaves. The women like to wear terra cotta on their enormously stretched lower lips and ear lobes. Drive back to Jinka for lunch. Then proceed to the Turmi where the Hamer people lives. Overnight in Turmi.
This day you will drive to Murulle where you can find the Karo people. Karo People is very famous for their splendid body decoration, which they paint their bodies and faces with white chalk to prepare for a ceremony. The women scar their chest believing it makes them beautiful. The men's scars represent an enemy or dangerous animal killed. Visit and proceed to Nyangatom people, 17 kms away from the Murulle area. To adore their long and lean bodies, the Nyangatom women wear numerous necklaces and long skirts from goatskins that are richly decorated. Then you will attain the colorful market of Dimeka for the Hammer people. Visit and drive back to Turmi. Overnight in Turmi.
This day you will drive Yabello passing through the Arebore and Tsemay village. The Tsemaye, who the women are well know by having a tattoos on their face. They braid their hair in a number of different eye-catching styles and wear beautiful beads around the neck. Visit and proceed to Borena people. Overnight in Turmi.
This day you will drive to Yirgalem passing through the coffee plantation. Overnight in Turmi.
After breakfast, drive to the town of Awassa. En route
visit the fish market around Lake Awassa. Around the
lake you could encounter different birds. Visit and
drive back to Addis sightseeing en route.
